Lying Through His Teeth

With the general election coming upon us in less than a month away, we are bombarded by political ads on TV.  When we watched the Obama’s ad we explained to Tryphena who he is, and likewise when McCain’s ad came on air we told her what his name was.

We often times marveled how a two-year old child can follow adult conversations.  Here were the conversations that took place in our house lately.

A few weeks ago, while watching Palin-Biden debate:
Indra:  Look, Na!  Her name is Sarah Palin.  She will be vice president.
Tryphena:  Sarah Payling.  Papa, do you like Sarah Payling?
Hizkia:  Yes, I do.  She’s a good person.
Tryphena:  Do you like Obama?
Hizkia:  No, I don’t like Obama.  He’s an evil man.  He is lying through his teeth.

Yesterday,  we had another conversation:
Indra:  It looks like Obama is going to win.
Hizkia:  It looks that way because people don’t do their research.
Tryphena:  Papa, do you like Obama?
Hizkia:  No, I don’t.  Do you know why?  Because he’s an evil man.
Tryphena:  Do you like McCain?
Hizkia:  No, I don’t like McCain.  But he’s better than Obama.  He is the lesser of two evils.
Then she got down from the sofa, and
Tryphena:  I don’t like Obama.  <paused > He lies through his teeth.  I like Sarah Payling.

We laughed so hard we almost fell out the sofa.
