Lake Tahoe in Summer

tahoe044.jpgWe just got back from a 5-day vacation to Lake Tahoe and Reno! It was a nice vacation and unlike last Winter when we went there, this time the weather was cooperating. Please visit the Photo Albums section for the pictures.

In Tahoe we took a 2-hour cruise where we could see the magnificent scenery around the Lake. However, we made a mistake by sitting on the upper level where the view was blocked by the windows; thus, preventing us from taking clear pictures. About half time I moved to the deck and was able to snap some good pictures. We went to the Emerald Bay where the view was so grand. We also got to see the Vikingsholm castle at the head of the bay. According to its official website, the castle was built and completed in one Summer, and it is considered one of the finest Scandinavian architecture in the US. The boat also cruised around the Fannette island, Lake Tahoe’s only island.

Tryphena played on the beach in the afternoon where she tried to buid a sand castle.

On the following day we went to Squaw Valley, the site of 1960 Winter Olympic. There we rode a sky lift (a.k.a. cable car) where it took us to the mountain top at 8,200 feet elevation. From there we could enjoy Lake Tahoe and the beautiful Sierra Nevada.

We left Tahoe on Wednesday for Reno. We spent some time in the Arcade at Circus-Circus and we took home seven new soft toys! Tryphena loved it there.

It was a nice getaway where we got to relaxed, enjoyed the surrounding nature, and spent time together.
