“Ma… Pray, Ma!”

We pray with Tryphena every night before bed, and we say grace before every meal. We also teach her to pray when she hurts. I give much credit to Indra for building her prayer life. As the Heidelberg Catechism Lord’s Day 45 Q&A 116 teaches: “Why is prayer necessary for Christians?” Because it is the chief part of thankfulness which God requires of us, and because God will give His grace and Holy Spirit to those who earnestly and without ceasing ask them of Him, and render thanks unto Him for them.

One afternoon about two weeks ago Indra and Tryphena found a dead frog in the driveway. It looked like I might have run it over. Upon seeing the dead frog Tryphena immediately said, “Ma…. pray, ma!” LOL……. We had to explain to her that the frog was already dead, and we don’t pray for a dead frog.
