Arizona Vacation

On Friday, June 25th we left for Sedona, AZ to take a 1-week vacation.  We went to Arizona despite the boycotts and travel advisories issued by those idiots in Sacramento and some other California cities.  O yeah….we spent our hard-earned dollars in the wicked state of Arizona!!  Politics aside, it was a blast.

We stopped for one night in Las Vegas on the way to Sedona, and then another one on the way back.  In Las Vegas Tryphena wanted to see the white tigers, so we went to Siegfried’s and Roy’s  Secret Garden at the Mirage Hotel.  We also went to the Venitian in the morning.   Leaving Las Vegas, we drove passed the Hoover Dam where we stopped for photo ops.  Click here for Las Vegas pictures.

We arrived in Sedona in the evening, so we just spent the rest of the evening in the hotel.  On the following day we went to the Red Rock State Park where we  saw magnificent views of the rock formations in the area.  There are Snoopy Rock, Cathedral Rocks, Bell Rock, Teapot rock, etc.  Also, there’s the historic house of Apache fire, once a vacation home of Jack and Helen Frye‘s.  After lunch we went to the ancient ruins of Tuzigoot.  Sedona031.jpgThe National Park Service’s website briefly explains, “Tuzigoot is an ancient village or pueblo built by a culture known as the Sinagua. The pueblo consisted of 110 rooms including second and third story structures. The first buildings were built around A.D. 1000. ”  It was an interesting place to visit if you go to Sedona.  Our next stop was the Montezuma well, not too far from the Tuzigoot National Monument.

On the 28th we went to  Out of Africa Wildlife Park where we took the safari and learned a great deal about African animals.  Tryphena and I also had the opportunity to touch a big Amazonian Anaconda at one of the shows there.  Click here for pictures in Sedona.

GC070.jpgOn Tuesday we went to the Grand Canyon National Park where we witnessed God’s awesome and grand creation!  In front of a gift shop I saw a public display of a praise from Psalm 68:4 carved on the stone, “Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Lift up a song to Him who rides upon the clouds; His name is the LORD, exult before him.”  I couldn’t help but thinking how much longer the sign will stay there before the liberal ACLU will force it taken down under the disguise of violation of the separation of the state and the church.  Sigh….  Click here to see pictures at the Grand Canyon.

On Wednesday we were headed back to Las Vegas.  Sedona122.jpgWe stopped at the Chapel of the Holy Cross to take some pictures.  From there we were headed to the internationally renowned Tlaquepaque (pronounced Tla-keh-pah-keh), a unique shopping mall that was fashioned after a traditional Mexican village.

Before leaving Las Vegas we stopped at the Caesar’s Palace because Tryphena wanted to see the moving statues.  From Caesar’s we went to see the dancing fountains at Bellagio.  We arrived home a little after midnight.  Tired but refreshed!
