Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! It’s this time of the year again where we are reminded to thank God for all of the blessings that He has bestowed upon us. As we looked back to the ups and downs that we’ve had this year, we are thankful for God’s faithfulness in sustaining us.

Despite the looming economic catastrophe in the state (and it’ll be worse next year), the uncertainty of the future,  and the loss of pregnancy in May, we realize that in everything it is God who sustains us, and we’re thankful for that. We are also thankful for my mom who came to help when Indra was in bed rest during her short-lived pregnancy, for the friendships of many friends, and for Tryphena who started preschool this year.  We are thankful for our health, for daily provision, for a roof over our heads, and for the church.  Indeed we are thankful for many other things.  Above all, we can’t thank God enough for the gift of salvation that He bestows upon us in Christ Jesus.May you also find reasons to give thanks, and may your Thanksgiving be filled with gladness, thankfulness, and…. turkeys, lots of them!  🙂

I just watched the Glenn Beck show on TV, and although I don’t agree with him theologically; never the less I found the following to be thought provoking

Happy Halloween!

hlwn086.jpgOur Halloween weekend was filled with many activities:  Buying a pumpkin, Halloween parade at Tryphena’s school, Reformation party at Stan’s ranch, and handing out candies to the neighborhood kids.

We started a week before by going to a pumpkin patch to buy a pumpkin.  We had been going to the same pumpkin patch for the last three years, and it’s a blessing to see how Tryphena has grown.  Click here to see her pictures in the  last two Halloweens.

The Halloween parade at Tryphena’s school was on Friday morning.   All of the children paraded around the building, and Tryphena dressed up as Snow White.  Click here to see more pictures of the parade. Continue reading “Happy Halloween!”

Happy Birthday, Duke!

On Friday, October 16th Duke turned 10.  image0012.jpgHe was still recovering from his growth-removal surgery, and thankfully he is doing well.  Tryphena bought him two squeaky toys for his birthday.  Visit the photo albums area for more pictures of his, and don’t forget to wish him a happy birthday!

Happy birthday, buddy!

Tumor

Duke had his tumor removed today.  It was a small tumor about the size of an almond.  I dropped him off at the vet in the morning and I picked him up around 4.

The vet made a rather large incision to make sure that he removed all of the bad cells and to prevent future growth.   We chose not to do the biopsy because it will cost another $100, so hopefully it is not a cancerous tumor.

At home he just sleeps a lot, perhaps he is still under the influence of the anesthesia.

Due to the gory nature of the pictures I would not post them here; however, if you can stand somewhat gross pictures, you can click here to see the pictures.

Theatre of Death

cooper1978.jpgAt the end of this month, on the 27th Alice Cooper’s “Theatre of Death” concert will perform in Fresno at the William Saroyan Theatre.   “Satanic” is what first come many people’s minds when they hear the name Alice Cooper.  He is so devilishly Satanic that his upcoming performance in Finland was canceled by the owner of the arena where he was to perform because of Cooper’s alleged “un-Christian” viewpoints and the dark nature of his shows.

Alice Cooper (born Vince Furnier) may surprise many people by his own admission that he’s a practicing Baptist.  Recently he received an honorary doctorate degree from Grand Canyon University (formerly a private Southern Baptist College) that he supported for many years.  I even heard that he and his wife of more than 20 years, Sheryl, attend a small Baptist church and they even teach Sunday School. 1st Day of School

Yesterday, September 3rd was  Tryphena’s first day of formal education, pre school to be exact.  We enrolled her at Fresno Montessori School, and we had been waiting anxiously for this day.  Finally it was here!  I took a day off and took her to her school.  What an exciting experience!  The video clips below are the same.  The first one is for high speed Internet connection and the second one is for low speed Internet connection.

Lake Tahoe in Summer

tahoe044.jpgWe just got back from a 5-day vacation to Lake Tahoe and Reno! It was a nice vacation and unlike last Winter when we went there, this time the weather was cooperating. Please visit the Photo Albums section for the pictures.

In Tahoe we took a 2-hour cruise where we could see the magnificent scenery around the Lake. However, we made a mistake by sitting on the upper level where the view was blocked by the windows; thus, preventing us from taking clear pictures. About half time I moved to the deck and was able to snap some good pictures. We went to the Emerald Bay where the view was so grand. We also got to see the Vikingsholm castle at the head of the bay. According to its official website, the castle was built and completed in one Summer, and it is considered one of the finest Scandinavian architecture in the US. The boat also cruised around the Fannette island, Lake Tahoe’s only island. Continue reading “Lake Tahoe in Summer”
