Tryphena’s 3rd Birthday

It’s been three years since you came into this world
It’s been three blessed years,
amidst all of the hard work and sleepless nights.
Dear Lord, we praise Thee for three years of living, and
We thank Thee for being with her every step of the way.
Let her know Thee, O Lord, who knowest her:
Let her know Thee, as she is known by Thee.
Power of her soul, enter into it, and fit it for Thee,
that Thou mayest have and hold it without spot or wrinkle.
This is our hope, and therefore do we beseech Thee;

Merry Christmas From the Gunawans

Dear Family and Friends,

2008 is almost over, and we are thankful for this year. It’s been a busy year for us.

We started the year by moving to a new church-facility. After renting a school for so many years we decided to move to another facility where we can have access 24/7, and we started the first service in 2008 at the new building.

Tryphena loves to read and she comprehends most of our conversation. She also started swimming lesson last Spring. She loves animals and we went to Petsmart almost every Saturday from January until about August. She loves to watch the grooming salon, reptiles, mice, hamsters, fish, and just about everything there. Continue reading “Merry Christmas From the Gunawans”

Tire Chains

We practiced installing the chains this morning. After some practices we can put the chain in less than 5 minutes on one tire.

Last night in the hotel room we found Chain Buddy‘s website and thought that it was handy to have it around.

Greetings from the Beautiful Lake Tahoe

It’s cold here and snowing almost all the time. It’s the coldest place I’ve ever been; however, the scenery was magnificent. It feels like Christmas! 🙂

Our hotel is located uphill so we needed to install tire chains. After trying for about half an hour and I still couldn’t put the chains on this morning we (my dad and I) finally decided to jack up the car. The chains are on and off we go.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! My parents are here visiting from Indonesia, so we have a full house and a busy holiday season. We are leaving for Rancho Mirage next Tuesday, and we plan to go to Lake Tahoe on the 17th, on our 14th anniversary.

On this Thanksgiving day I wanted to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving, and provide you with a little sentiment for the occasion. (I received this Ode to Thanksgiving a couple years ago, and I don’t know who the author was)

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey be plump,
May your potatoes and gravy

The Nonsensical-Liberal Creed

A good friend of mine wrote this creed. I found it to be so funny, yet so true. 🙂

The Nonsensical-Liberal Creed

I believe in Nancy Pelosi, mother superior of the House.

And in Barack Obama,
our political messiah,
who was conceived under uncertain circumstances,
born of Ann Dunham,
suffered under no one,
will crucify businesses and bury their success,
may they descend into hell,
he will resurrect liberalism from the dead,
he will ascend into the White House,
from there he will tax the living and the dead,

I believe in the liberal mormon Harry Reid,
the all beneficent government,
the communal distribution of wealth,
the forgiveness of sloth,
the resurrection of the Great Society,
and in the great liberal utopia to come.
Amen.

(Oh yes, and I believe in JFK assassination and 9/11 conspiracy theories, Tinkerbell, and the tooth fairy.)

Almost Three

I can’t believe that Tryphena is going to be three this January. It seems it was just like yesterday when she was born, and now here she is….. almost three already. Lying Through His Teeth

With the general election coming upon us in less than a month away, we are bombarded by political ads on TV. When we watched the Obama’s ad we explained to Tryphena who he is, and likewise when McCain’s ad came on air we told her what his name was.
